Nonlinear Pitch Control Based Variable Speed Operation of Wind Turbines
Abstract: This talk focuses on wind turbine speed control via pitch servo-mechanism. New pitch control algorithms for variable speed operation of wind turbines are derived. Since pitch angle cannot be adjusted directly and instantly, actuator dynamics are therefore explicitly considered in our study. Three types of pitch actuator dynamics are examined and integrated into the pitch control scheme. Both analysis and simulation show that the derived control algorithms ensure smooth and asymptotic rotor speed tracking.
