Ties and Sports Ranking

Abstract: In this talk we will work through a detailed explanation of the Colley sports ranking method, one of six methods used by the Bowl Championship Series. Next we discuss how to adapt the method to include ties for sports such as hockey and soccer. Finally we explore ongoing research on other methods of handling ties.
