C0 Interior Penalty Methods for Fourth Order Problems
Abstract: In this talk we will discuss C0 interior penalty methods for fourth order problems. These methods are based on standard finite element spaces for second order problems. They are discontinuous Galerkin methods where the normal derivative of the solution of the discrete problem is not required to be continuous across element boundaries. Theoretical results
on discretization errors, fast solvers and adaptive algorithms will be presented, together with numerical results for some applications.
