Steady Motion of Symmetric Bodies in
Newtonian and Non-Newtonian Fluids
Abstract: There are several well known differences in the
behavior of Newtonian and Non-Newtonian fluids, such as the
rod-climbing, open-siphon effects etc. We discuss one more recently
dicovered example of this difference concerning the terminal
orientation of long symmetric bodies in these two kinds of fluids. Some
experimental and theoretical work will be presented cocnerning this
behavior.
