Turbulence - what is the problem?

Abstract: Hydrodynamic turbulence is often called the last great unsolved problem of classical physics. We will try to explain in what sense the problem is actually unsolved, even after over 100 years of systematic research, why it remains unsolved, and what we have learned nevertheless. Experimental, numerical, and the major theoretical approaches will be reviewed.
