Turbulent jets in stratified fluids
Abstract: Vertical plumes in stratified mediums are a common occurrence in nature, such
as in oceanic vents and in industrial exhaust vents to the atmosphere. By
using a water tank with a vertical density stratification, we were able to
explore the properties of turbulent plumes of this sort and how they compared
to existing models. This talk will focus on the experimental setup and the
data processing used in this research.
